To meet this exciting technical challenge, Visual TV will deploy no fewer than nine high-definition camera RF links! "This is a world first in terms of the technology needed to cover a sailing event of this size," says Visual TV Chief Executive Officer Alain Poret*. Visual TV teams will be ready when the starting signal is given at precisely 1:02 pm on October 29, with high-definition camera RF links in place on land (at Pointe de Grouin, Cap Fréhel and Saint-Malo) at sea (aboard a cruiser), and in the air (with two helicopters). The entire broadcast organization will be covered by a relay plane, which will pick up the RF signals and beam them to the playout facilities. The high-definition images will be broadcast on the France 3 and Planète Thalassa TV channels. About the TDF Multimedia Division The TDF Multimedia Division comprises Visual TV (image capture, studios), Cognacq-Jay Image (playout, archiving), SmartJog (secure electronic delivery), TV-Radio.com (radio and TV webcasting) and Mediamobile (traffic information services). * Alain Poret, 49, is a graduate of the CESTI engineering school and the IAE Paris business administration institute.
